Before You Arrive

Preparation for Reconnective Healing is refreshingly simple. Wear comfortable clothing in natural fabrics if possible — cotton, linen, or wool — as synthetic materials may interfere with the frequency interaction according to practitioners. Remove watches, mobile phones, and metallic jewellery, storing them away from the treatment area.

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, and arrive well-hydrated. Some practitioners suggest limiting caffeine on the day of your session, though this isn't universal. Bring nothing except an open mind — no crystals, oils, or other healing tools are needed or wanted in this practice.

Unlike many energy modalities, Reconnective Healing requires no intention-setting or specific mental preparation. The practice operates on the principle that the frequencies will interact with whatever needs attention, without your conscious direction.

The Session Unfolds

You'll lie fully clothed on a massage table in a quiet room. The practitioner begins by moving their hands slowly around your body, typically starting at your head and working systematically down to your feet. Their hands remain several inches to several feet away from your body throughout — no physical contact occurs.

The practitioner isn't following a predetermined routine. Instead, they're responding to sensations in their own hands — tingling, pressure, temperature changes, or magnetic-like pulls. They may pause longer over certain areas, move their hands in different patterns, or change the distance based on what they're sensing.

Sessions typically last 25-30 minutes. The room remains quiet except for ambient sounds. You'll notice the practitioner occasionally pausing or shifting position as they attune to whatever they're perceiving through their hands.

What You Might Experience

Responses vary dramatically between individuals and sessions. Many people report physical sensations: warmth, coolness, tingling, or gentle pressure even though they're not being touched. Some experience involuntary muscle movements — fingers might flex, limbs may twitch, or the whole body might shift slightly.

Emotional responses can emerge unexpectedly. You might feel deeply relaxed, experience vivid imagery, or find emotions surfacing without clear triggers. Some people fall asleep, whilst others remain hyperaware of subtle sensations.

Some individuals notice nothing obvious during the session but report feeling different afterwards — calmer, more energised, or experiencing improved sleep over the following days. Others have profound experiences during the session itself but notice little lasting change.

It's worth noting that practitioners consider both dramatic responses and apparent 'non-responses' equally valid outcomes within the Reconnective Healing framework.

After Your Session

Drink plenty of water following your session, as many people report feeling dehydrated afterwards. Avoid alcohol for the remainder of the day, and consider keeping your evening low-key rather than scheduling demanding activities.

Some people feel energised immediately, whilst others experience temporary fatigue or emotional sensitivity. Both responses are considered normal within this practice. Changes, if they occur, might unfold over several days rather than being immediately apparent.

Keep a journal of any shifts you notice — physical, emotional, or circumstantial — over the week following your session. Practitioners often ask about these observations at follow-up appointments, as patterns can inform whether additional sessions might be beneficial.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

Most Reconnective Healing practitioners recommend a maximum of three sessions to determine whether this approach resonates with you. The philosophy differs markedly from modalities requiring ongoing treatment — the premise is that lasting change should occur within this limited timeframe if it's going to happen at all.

Sessions are typically spaced a week apart to allow full integration between appointments. Some practitioners suggest that the benefits continue developing between sessions, making the spacing important rather than simply convenient.

After three sessions, most practitioners recommend taking a break of several months before considering further sessions. This reflects the belief that Reconnective Healing facilitates fundamental shifts rather than providing temporary relief requiring regular maintenance.
